Well, I think it is that a lot of people think that people are above the other animals, and dont realize that we are animals too, and as a dominant species on this planet we should be the caretakers of the rest.

I only have one word for those that think they are so far above other animals that they only think of them as objects to be thrown away when they are no longer interested in them. That word is currently JERK, but I would like to be able to add one more word and that word is CRIMINAL.

My first parrot was Rambo. His human was going to put him up for sale because she did not want him any more. I talked her out of him. I could not see an intelligent creature being passed around and sold like an object.

Dont you mean your first parrot was Amy the cockatiel.

You got me on that one. Cockatiels are parrots but with their sweet personalities and precious little voices I sometimes forget. They also do not cause trouble like my Amazons. Cockatiels are a lot of joy and very little work. That is as apposed to what Rambo and Myrtle are.

When people meet Rambo I am often told that they want a parrot too. I tell them "no you don't" and tell them what parrots are like and that they are thinking and emotional beings.

My Momma had Hospice with many people coming to the house. The dogs always greet people at the door and sometimes Rambo is mixed in with the dogs. He could also be sitting on my Momma and pulling guard duty to protect her. I have to tell them that Rambo is not what parrots are and that each one has a different personality. It is not that they want a parrot. It is that they want a Rambo.

Yes, I agree with 'criminal' but the word I use nowadays for people like that is A$$H*LE! And I do hope karma really exists!

When people see me out with Gaguan, they see a playfull sweet parrot that likes everyone, and will chatter away, and they think they want a parrot, but i say the same thing, "you want a Gaugan."

Why did I get a parrot?????

So that, someday, I could be a CONURE! [See? I worked my way up... kinda wish I could stay a conure, out of Patagonian solidarity)
