 Indeed it is! My husband, who is always translating everything into Spanish, has heard this phrase so often that he says it in English all the time now: "If momma ain't happy, nobody is happy!" And guess who repeated it so often and for so many years that he ended up learning it? Momma, that's who! -which is me, of course!

Well, I guess that whole mom and dad thing is fairly true. Wolf, what you said, about Winter, is actually very relatable. I'm using this time to do more research and such before spring comes.

I'm going to agree with Parjarita-- I definitely do the same thing to my younger sisters, and my parents did it to me when I was younger. They still do, sometimes (insist they're right, I don' get laughed at at this age).

And Wolf, I agree! When I persuaded my parents to get chinchilla, they were both sold on it until a relative mentioned to my mom that they're part of the rodent family. Then tried to salvage the situation by having dad hold the chinchilla in question, but mom saw him fall in love and immediately said "if that comes, I'm leaving." That was the end of that. (Her later compromise was that she'd keep it if I found a pure white one, but I decided that having her unwilling consent would not result in a good home and let the matter go).

and Matt, best of luck to you! Your method of persuasion seems to be working well (2/3 is pretty good) with your family and hopefully it leads to success!

Polite insistence and relentlessness works, too. My mother always said that I would always eventually get what animal I wanted (I was always the one asking to bring animals into the house) because I would not give up and kept on asking and asking and asking until I drove them so crazy they gave up and acceded to it just to shut me up

Yeah, if my mom disagreed, the whole thing wouldve been shot down. Luckily, my brother likes parrots and my mom understood why Lilly didn't work.
And yes, relentlessness is definently a big part of my method. Although, I didn't mention anything about it for almost a year. That was part of the cool down though.
