What do you mean by 'not successful'? Did the babies die or was it that the eggs were not fertile? Or was it that there were no eggs? If there were no eggs or the eggs were not fertile, were they observed having sex?

The female laid but I asked the woman were they infertile and she wasnt sure what that meant so they could have been infertile or didnt hatch and yes they were watched mating. And all the perches were plastic so Rio could have slipped which caused infertile eggs.

I use a black plastic lid with a hole in it a little smaller than the egg and put it on a flashlight. That is the easy way to "candle" the egg. There should be a "speck" of red in a newly laid egg.

Well, another case of people breeding birds without even the most basic knowledge of what it requires! But, why do you say that plastic perches could cause infertile eggs? What does one thing have to do with the other?

If the Male goes off balance while mating it causes infertile eggs dosent it thats what ive heard to use good perches so that dosent happen.

I don't know where you heard that but it makes no sense because the male 'steps' on the female so its feet are not on the perch, they are on her back. Now, birds with only one leg might have a bit of problem but they usually manage because there is no actual penetration. You get a lot of wrong information from birdsites... A LOT!

Lovebirds are very fun and funny I love Rio and I would love another but I have too many birds.

Yes. Only the fertile egg would have a red spot that increases over the days. If you are not sure then check it the next day.

That does not mean that a speck of red in a chicken egg that you crack was fertile. Sometimes the chickens will leave a speck in their egg for other reasons such as being startled. Eggs in the store come from chickens who do not have roosters. A hen does not require a rooster to be able to lay eggs.
