Yes, it has to do with having enough food. I think. But I've also seen cats bringing live prey to other, younger cats to what I think is training. Many, many years ago, I lived in a high up and remote area of NJ (the closest town was West Milford) in the middle of the forest and allowed my cats to go out (something I never do now) and my older mouser would bring little moles and field mice in his mouth and laying down in the middle of the other cats, put them down for the others to go after. I rescued as many as I could but I am sure that I missed some, poor things!

Basically it works out as one of those areas in which I do not allow my personal feelings to interfere with my choices. Just because I don't like something, it does not means that I am right and this is a normal behavior for a cat so even though I don't like it I do not let it stop me from giving them the very same respect and considerations that I give to any other creature, which is why we have seven cats two of which I prevented the deaths of and three which would have probably starved had we not taken then in. They also get the same amount of love and attention as any other creature in my care, to do otherwise would be wrong on my part despite my personal feelings.

Sometimes, I wonder that too. I mean, I think to an extant, my Lucy knows that she's not a human. She was co-raised, meaning that she was fed by her bird parents, but also handled by humans, so she'd be socialized to both birds and people. She may want to feel like a person. Probably why she always tries to do whatever I'm doing.

I'll have to try that. :) She seems to think that whatever I have is hers as well, so maybe if she thinks I'm eating something, shell eat it, herself.

I put a bell on the table this morning. She played with it occasionally, but still ended up trying to take not only my breakfast, but she also wanted to eat my medication, and drink my tea. Of course, I never did let her. She may or may not have managed to sneak in a sip of my tea, though. Can't take my eyes off her for a second. She's definitely made life more exciting for me, it seems.

Jessi, why don't you make a nice herbal tea for her - like chamomile, for example? My Zoey loves to have tea with me and that's what I do.

Yes, they certainly are messy slobs! I despair of ever having clean walls in the birdroom... no matter how often I wash them, they are ALWAYS dirty! But, as soon as we have some extra money, we will be putting fiberglass panels on them and they are much easier to clean than painted sheetrock.

My walls donI get to bad, it is mostly the floor and their toys. I sometimes feel that i am surgically connnected to the vacuum cleaner....lol...I have started making my bird toys so they are easy to take apart so I can clean them easily and then put new toys together with the clean pieces.

When I used to keep snakes I purchased a handheld steamer for cleaning the enclosures it was the best bit of kit ever bought it made cleaning them a doddle the steam also sterilises so no nasty chemicals

Great idea, i think I am also going to put large pieces of linoleum around their cages and play areas. That way they could be swept instead of vacuumed. Than a handheld steamer will really work great.
