New bird

Postby ParrotsForLife » Wed Nov 04, 2015 6:37 pm

I decided I am going to get a plum headed parakeet a Male the Bird Jungle has one Male left it is housed in a large indoor Aviary with Cockatiels so there shouldnt be a problem with him getting along with Rocko and Loki.Im so excited I cant wait to get him their colours are just lovely.Im also finding it very hard to think of a name that would suit a plum head any suggestions?

Parrots are not a commodity or a piece of furniture, you can't exchange one you no longer like for a new one.

I think it's a bit too soon, you seem to be going through parrots very fast. Instead of getting a new bird, why don't you continue working with the ones you have right now? As you get older, you'll have less time for all of your birds. The breed you want will still be around later on.

Have you tried teaching your cockatiels specific times? I found YouTube cockatiel song training videos recently and they're genius honestly.

Theres nothing to work with them they are tame and bonded to each other so they dont come to me even though I am with them every hour. And I always have a third bird I dont think its too soon its not like Rio died or anything when I rehomed my two budgies I got Rocko the next day.I will still have a lot of time with them when im older.

That's what you think now, but as your school workload gets bigger, you will become busier. Just hang out with the birds you have now, they all seem like more than enough to keep you busy.

There's no guarantee the new bird will get along with your current ones, and that will be just another rehomed bird. Right now it may be easy for you, but life happens and things get muddled up and the birds you previously had a ton of time for suddenly become difficult to care for. I really think you should just stick with the two you have now, and think about more in/after university.

The new bird isnt a aggressive species so if they dont get along they will have space to get away from each other as I am making a indoor bird room also Im not the only one who cares for the birds my mam does too and she is excited about the New bird.I already made up my mind im getting a plum headed parakeet thanks for your concern.

Parrotsforlife, with such a cavalier attitude towards your birds, you will never understand what it is that everyone is trying to explain to you. The bird/ human bonding is occurring in only one direction from the bird toward you, but you are not bonding with any of them. Until you actually bond with them there is no way to help you ti understand, I wish it were otherwise, but it is what it is.
