I know that some plastics are not safe for birds, still there are a lot of plastics used for bird stuff. I try to not use any plastics, but I do have a few balls and chains that are plastic. I watch these items very closely. If a bird can bite any piece of it off, I get rid of it. If they can break any of it so that there are sharp edges left, I get rid of it. I believe that the plastics that are supposed to be BPA free have a triangular recycle symbol with the number 3 or 5 inside of the symbol. I try to avoid all plastics, but it is difficult to do with the chains and balls that they like to play with. The chains that I am speaking of are actually made for human babies to teeth on and the individual links come in many shapes and sizes but they are large enough that my birds cant get hung in them.
