Yes, they do and they can fly just fine with half of them, too. But, in the meantime, try to put him on your shoulder as much as you can. The good thing with GCCs (at least the ones I've had experience with) is that they are happy just perching there. The only time mine becomes a bit of a pest is when I am washing something in the sink (she helps me do the downstairs birds) because, very often, she will climb down my arm to my hand and either watch the water up close, drink from the flow from the faucet or go under it to bathe in it (they love water and bathing!)

While molting time can vary most of them are over in about a month.

I would say that it's more 6 weeks than 4 BUT that's a normal molt, off-season ones are unpredictable because what regulates molt is the endocrine system and if the bird is molting off-season, you already know that its endocrine system is screwed up. And, I don't know if you meant it as something related to it or not but spending more time on you has nothing to do with molting, only with overpreening.

Molting and overpreening are two different things as when a bird molts it is just replacing old worn out and damaged feathers. But overpreening is when the bird grooms its feathers to the point of damaging them himself. This usually happens because the bird has nothing else to do with its time, while molting occurs on a cycle of a year or with some species of parrots twice a year.

Overpreening is a behavior that if not corrected turns into barbering and them possibly feather plucking behaviors.
