I'm sure everything will be fine but our bunny is undergoing anaesthetic tonight to sort his teeth out. He has spurs

Not really sure how this has come about as he has had no problems previously. He eats loads of hay and veg, plus a small handful of pellets. Not too sure what else I can do to improve things in that respect.

Give him some wood to chew on. Rabbit teeth are like the teeth of most rodents and grow continuously all through their lives, they need to chew on wood to wear them down. Some untreated 2X4 blocks would help a lot with this.

He doesn't chew. Literally doesn't chew anything except his food. We have been trying for years.

That is a bit unusual for a rabbit as they are notorious wood chewers. What are you feeding and how much? Could it be that your rabbit is too fat and lazy to chew on wood? I do mean that humorously as well as a serious question.

Well he doesn't move around as much as he used to that's for sure. We put his pellets in a dog treat toys to encourage him. He has the run of our large living room apart from when we are out. He isn't overweight, he is nice and lean.

He has two meals a day of mainly veg and a few pellets (measured amounts, only about 10g of pellets a day otherwise he doesn't eat his hay) and the odd bit of fruit 2-3 times a week as treats. He has free access to hay 24/7, I would say it is about 75% of his diet roughly. He never had hay before he came to us but he has been eating it well the past few years.

The only thing he likes to bite on that isn't food is my laptop or phone charger if I haven't put them out of his reach! Never left plugged in though of course. Even as a youngster he never chewed wood or card or anything really.

It really sounds to me like you know what you are doing as far as his care goes. If he doesn't want to chew on wood, I guess that is the way of it. It has to be a good thing, however for your apartment as it means less damage to it. Still I am curious, have you ever looked to see if his teeth are straight? I can't think of anything that might help at this time, sorry.

If they wasn't straight I would have expected problems long before now tbh. I will be speaking to the vet though.

Had news that bunny isn't eating on his own after the procedure so they are keeping him in.

Don't blame him. He hates the vet. He used to be really relaxed about travelling as his previous owner took him away with them every weekend but now being in strange places and travelling stresses him out something chronic

His teeth feel funny to him and he doesn't know what to do, it should pass pretty soon, at least I hope so. It has been a very long time since I last had rabbits, close to 35 to 40 years.
