In Texas my Senegal from a breeder was $385. My Caique should have been $525 but was actually $275 (long story). My Red Belly came to me as a rehome for free but he was $385. My Timneh will be $695 when I get it eventually. BTW- the pet store I worked at charged $1200 for a Timneh and $1500 for a Congo Grey last year. $1200 for a White Bellied Caique. So there is quite a price difference between breeders and stores.

Teyla :cockatiel: and clutchmate Tico were free, complete with cages and food because they were rehomed.

Tamber :senegal: was $400 after I dickered with the Petland manager quite a bit....after all, Tamber had been in the store for several months and still hadn't found a home. I should say that he still hadn't chosen an owner, because he definitely chose me! :D

Our Senegal was $500 from a local pet store.
I checked a chain store for African Greys, and did find a Timneh for 1,500, but I have found a local breeder who has the Timneh's for $700, and the Congos for $800

I pd 550.00 from a breeder in n. Virginia. I am always amazed how expensive our local petco ans petsmart stores sell birds for. Does anyone know how they set prices at the large chain stores? It would seem to be pre-set but reading this thread it doesn't seem to be standardized.

I have never seen a Senegal at a pet store anywhere near me. Seem to be hard to find around here.

Batman was a rescue and so no fee there, here you can purcahse Eastern Rosella's for $50 - $100.

Senegals here are $1500 from breeder , but there are only 2 breeders in the country

The SC2 we had in Australia was about $500 and the red tailed black toos were about $700
my first ever baby of my own , a little corella, was $250 from breeder

I paid $700 each for my Red-Bellied and Senegal from a PJ's pet store here in Toronto ... I realize that's a little high considering they go for around $500 at a breeder.

But I don't regret it one bit. They make the best pets I've ever had!

I got Sheldon for $150 as an aviary bird when he was about a year old and I have had him for about 7 months. Now I realise how not tame he was and even might have been a wild catch.

I had no clue about hand-raised birds and have to admit I just got him because the guy that was selling him said that he would be able to talk and he was colorful =[

I then started to research about taming and handling and getting Sheldon to trust me. So yeah, he was the best impulse buy =]

Here are some prices of other birds that i have been around and from breeders:
Creencheck conure- $300 in shops, but $150-180 from a breeder
Sun conure- $600 in shops, but $450-580 from a breeder
Budgies-$40 in some shops handraised, but about $10 from the markets
Lovebirds- $90 handraised from breeders, $120 a pair not handraised from pet shop
African greys- A lot... I've only seen them on Australian breeder sites and they go for about $5000
