hellooooo

Hi all, been super busy lately but hopefully things will calm down soon so I can come back. I've been busy giving my business a kick up the backside as I was made redundant from my other job . All my spare time has been setting up websites, twitter, Facebook, Google plus, instagram etc etc and trying to figure out how to use the programs I don't know how to.

Rena and Ollie- I think it's just not meant to be. Hormones have helped nothing...Rena is most interested in humping people and toys. Ollie has been "nesting" under the sofa and every time we think we have it blocked off he finds another way in.

We are down to 7/22 mice now, the one who had a stroke (the oldest one) is still going and more to the point getting stronger by the day!! Unbelievable! He is as tough as they come but most of the others are showing their age now.

Our house rabbit finally recovered from his dental and has been as right as rain for a while now.

Take care all :)

Glad to hear from you, Marie, and that, aside from the Ollie/Rena failed romance, everything is going well. But don't lose hope on them because even if they don't actually make a mate pair, they can still keep each company very nicely. Sometimes, it takes years for them to accept one another. Isis is going to be here three years this July and it has been only in the last several months that I have been able to have her out with Zoey and Sweetpea (not because of Sweet, he never bothers anybody, but because of Zoey). Now I am working on Zoey accepting (read: ignoring) Codee and for the last three days, she has been allowed access to Codee with both of them out-of-cage and there have been no incidents. I have also managed to get Linus to stay out-of-cage without panicking about Freddy and hiding from him and, this morning, Pookey stayed out on her own (meaning, without me in the birdroom to supervise) for the first time in the last couple of months (she also started freaking out about Freddy). So, as you can see, it might take a long time and a lot of gradually tweaking things to inure them to one another but it can be done and, sometimes, you even get them to accept each other as flock mates -that's what has happened to Isis, Zoey and Sweet which now fly together as a little flock all over the place and munch on a bit of fresh produce every morning, perching side by side, without a problem.

You just never know with these birds, they are every bit as contrary as humans are and they will surprise you at every turn. Like us they sometimes fall for each other from the first sight and other times they may never accept each other and as I learn more about them I find that sometimes they, just like us, don't realize their actual feelings towards each other until they either lose the other one or are actually faced with the loss of the other. They are so individualistic and fascinating creatures.

Paquita and Rajah still want to be together, but I can't let them occupy the same cage for longer than 30 minutes or so because Rajah is an abusive male and pecks poor Keeta viscously and pulls her feathers out and she just lets him. I let them live next to each other so they can see and talk to each other and hopefully someday between Keeta and myself we can get Rajah past this over aggressive condition that he has. Still on Rajah, but on a different track, I still have not won his trust, but I have plenty of time and so does he.

I am glad to hear from you and thank you for the update. I miss having you here.
