Brandon got his birds as babies or juveniles, they were not fully sexually mature adults (the age when the parrot would leave the immediate family circle and breed itself) like your sun conure. This makes a BIG difference. It's like saying that a 5 year old or a 16 year old human are adults. They are not. A 5 year old boy can physically do the same things as an adult (feed, clean itself, walk, run, etc) but he would not be able to make it on his own. A 16 year old boy might look almost like an adult (and can even procreate) but he doesn't have the same capacity for decision making as an adult because his frontal lobe is not fully developed (this only happens in the mid-twenties) - see what I mean? It's the same with birds. Young birds are insecure so they are much easier to deal with than birds that are full adults.

So what are you saying? I only trained my birds easily because they were young? Well I've trained a lot of adult parrots too guess I should name a few, 2 year old pair of lovebirds here with me now, 4 year old Barraband parrot, 12 year old African grey, 2-3 year old Fiery shouldered conure, 2 year old pair of cockatiels, 1 year old Parrotlet and another 1 year old Parrotlet and a bird I own who I'm still working with a 2-3 year old Plum headed parakeet.

Please do not do your fighting on the forum, it is not really the place for it. If you have something to say constructively then please do, but if not and you must continue this please use the PM service.

The OP said he felt put down and disrespected, surely he knows how he felt and surely we can respectfully listen to him and try to do better.

I have said that we need to listen and do better and beyond that I am laying no blame on anyone and am glad that he is getting the help he needs. I don't think that their is more that I need to add at this time. Thanks everyone, we can do better than this.

Yes, exactly and the op has even apologized for not expressing it better. We are all united by a common love for parrots. WE can work together better.

Re: bird bath, every time I take in a rescue it never fails the poor dirty birde doesn't know what a bath is. I usually take my best shower taker ( loomy) she flaps her wings and would play for hours in the shower if I would let her any way I put the bird I want to learn how to shower on a separate shower perch out of the spray and let them watch. The steam is also very good for them. This might only take a few times before they want to join in the fun or months depending how much fun you and the other birdie make it look like. Also sometimes I will see a new bird climb or try to anyway into there water dish so I offer a lg. Dish (shallow) of warm water. Some of mine I unload 3 or 4 spray bottle on them and then spend an hour cleaning it up. LOL My cockatoos fight over the spray bottles and hog the spray. It's always a circus with the baths as everyone wants something different. I pray for summer when the big misters are turned on and the mess is outside. Bird woman

i have had many parrots that loved baths under a running tap or sprayed, but not Gaugan my redbelly, she wants to bath in her water dish period and she is stubborn, so when i got her new cage i got one with a big water dish. Its a big enough cage for a large parrot, but Gaugan makes use of every single corner. I have tried to get Sunny to like baths under the tap, by bringing him over to my daughters next door and seeing how her Conure and Meyers like the tap, but he wants to do exactly what Gaugan does so its water dish bathing for them. i change their water 3 times a day, at least twice if i am busy that day.

Athough the other day i had them out in small cages, since we had a heat wave here and it was nice and warm out, and it did stat to rain, Gaugan is used to that but Sunny was so puzzled by the drops landing on him.....lol...he just keep looking up at the sky...
