kakariki

What would be the best foods to give my young kackariki. At the moment he is getting fresh fruit and veg and a parrot mix of seeds etc. I also have a cockatiel and they seem to get on ok when they are both out of their respective cages. The cockatiel will land on kiki's cage while he is inside and he climbs about the bars in the cage and under the roof. He does not seem too bothered when pepi is on the top of his cage and wondered if I should discourage this.

Well, I would if for no other reason that he might get his toes bit one of these days. In my personal experience, one can never say: "My parrot doesn't do that" because even though they might not do something for years, one day they might.

Food seems fine but you need to take into consideration vitamins and minerals that might need supplementing. Personally, I don't free-feed seeds to any of my parrots, only the passerines.
