clicking

Postby kimbo » Sun Apr 11, 2010 1:10 pm

i recently posted about my senegal chico clicking his beak when my husband comes in. but the problem is he picks chico up and he bites him, quite hard, hangs on and when i get him off he goes to bite me as well. but he will sit on keiths arm and his eyes pin and he clicks and clicks, all of a sudden he lunges and bites. :senegal:

Perhaps he is picking him up wrong or the bird doesn't know any better?

dont think so, he usually flaps his little wings to get to keith and will climb over the cage just to get to him, or jumps down on the floor and runs over to him and climbs up his leg. he steps up for both of us and does not bite then. just when hes sat on keiths arm or finger he then bites him. only bites me when he is being taken of keith or when hes toy aggresive. :senegal:

Oh. Well that just sounds like a typical possessive little Senegal

I have seen Senegals that can get along with more than one person, just not at the same time.

It sounds like displaced aggression to me. If he doesn't do it when it is one on one when there is nobody else around I think that could be the problem.

found out what it is when today he was clicking and started honking up food much to the amazement of keith who hadnt a clue and thought something was wrong. so he thinks keith is his mate, so im trying to discourage this behaviour. :senegal: bless him (the bird that is).
