Good for you! People usually think that because an organization is a 501(c)3, the whole thing is on the level but this is simply NOT true! I've know flippers and collectors that had the tax exempt status as well as rescues which 'owners' used the donations for themselves (and two of them were bird rescues!).

Allow them t get only so much of the wood and then see what they do with it. It is easier to allow them to get more later than it is to stop them once you give them full access to it.

Manzanita is a very expensive wood at best and the larger the pieces are the more expensive it becomes. Wood workers love it even though it is extremely hard to work with due to how hard it is and large pieces are difficult to come by as it grows so slowly.
