Parrot Crossword

Postby Michael » Fri Apr 16, 2010 1:19 pm

I made a crossword puzzle for you guys about parrots. Feel free to print it out for something fun to do. If you'd like to discuss it or share your answers, you can put the number with the answer. No cheating. Do the puzzle before going down for the discussion ;)

This puzzle has been up for a while so the answer key is now available at the bottom once you've given it a try yourself.

So has anyone given it a shot yet? If you think you got it you can post your answers. Once I have a feeling everyone who wanted to has had a chance to complete the crossword, I'll post the answers.

Also I'd appreciate some feedback if it was too simple? Too difficult? It's very parrot specific so probably not suitable for non-parrot people. However, anyone who has been participating in this forum should know any or all of the terms.

I was just taking a look at it.

Across:

1. Pellets
5. Sprouts
8. Kakapo (I'll never forget them after watching that clip with the very 'friendly' Kakapo)
9. Psitticidae ? Sounds right but doesn't look quite right.
10. Forage
12. Perch
13. Feathers? I was thinking down feathers, I guess feathers would be the general word for it.

Down:

2. Lorakeet?
3. Parakeets
4. Scream
6. Training
7. I'm stuck on this one
11. Africa

It was fun. Some were really easy but others a bit harder. Like number 7, and I can't remember how to spell number 9.

Overall good fun

The Mealy Amazon is 540-700g
A Blue and Yellow Macaw is 900-1300g
A Hyacinth Macaw (largest flying parrot) is 1200-2000g
The Kakapo range from 2000-4000g (that's up to 10lbs!)
