Wow! How very interesting! Birds that looked a bit like ostriches but were over 9 ft tall, nocturnal and probably blind but with a great sense of smell. Now, ain't that a kick in the head to all we know about birds?! Read on:

Rainbow can smell my leftover broccoli when I come through the front door. He goes into his begging dance so I will give it to him fast.

Yes, parrots can smell the same we do - not as good as most other species but still good enough to recognize strong smells. But you should give them raw broccoli - they LOVE it!
