Tweety Bird

Postby Michael » Wed Oct 14, 2009 8:28 pm

What in the world is this?

Image

I never gave it much thought, but how is this a bird at all? It looks nothing like a bird! It has arms, eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair. If you think about it, kids are getting a really stupid introduction to birds from this. Most dog characters are fun and, childish, and resemble a dog at least. This is just a disgrace to birds...

A canary! And my bird has very noticable, beautiful black eyelashes. I think the only thing that makes him look funny is the few strands of hair, but his 'hands' look right to me. I can see how the feathers of a bird could be made to look like 'fingers'.

Cartoon dogs do at least usually look like dogs (except what the heck is Goofy?) but most of them talk, I've never seen a talking dog!

I used to like tweety bird as a child. I got tweety bird shirts and stuffed toys and other tweety bird things.

The head and feet are unusually disproportionate to the size of the body, and the eyes are huge... but this is done on purpose, of course, to make it painfully cute.

It's a cartoon, it's to be taken with a grain of salt.
Specially a loony toon cartoon ;)

I know but the sad thing is that it's about the only experience young children have with birds and it's not exactly a good one.

Well given the general state of cartoon and possible violence, misrepresentation of a bird isn't as bad as other things, specially when parents do tell their kids that it's only a cartoon and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Just look at that picture and if you didn't know it is named tweety bird and is supposed to be a bird, would you honestly believe that is supposed to be a bird!? Looks more like an alien or some messed up ground mammal to me... :?

Well I'm used to thinking Tweety bird is a bird.
And to me, he does look like an exaggerated version of a bird. But it's just that, exaggerated.

He can fly. I've seen several cartoons where he flies. I think you know he's a bird. He lives in a cage and sings...like a canary. He's owned by an old
grandma that's always beathing the cat with a cane
