Don't feel bummed. What could you do? I understand how you feel because I would too but it's certainly not your fault that the little guy got stuck in a tree.

When do you get back? Do you have any close neighbors who might be willing to call the fire department and show them where the bird is?

We get back tomorrow afternoon. We have one neighbor whose dog we tailed (so to speak) around the neighborhood once until she could get there from work to recapture her, but she's actually not at home all that much these days (boyfriend's place we think). Most of our other neighbors probably wouldn't be too sympathetic.

i think that if you scare him enough he should come down, also if you throw stuff close to him should do the trick, work for all my birds!

hope this helps.

And how exactly does this keep him from flying away, never to be seen again?
Let alone the risk of hitting the bird. :?

Right, so next time you have an error in your writing, we'll all admonish you to try to scare you into using proper grammar. Fear will certainly motivate positive change and companionship. ;)

Please note that this poor birdie is not mine, and we have no idea if it CAN come down. It just appeared in the tree and we recognized the call as belonging to a parrot, then were able to barely spot it up there. My husband has better eyes than I and confirmed it as a 'tiel. It certainly doesn't know us, so I doubt throwing things at it would improve its willingness to come to us.

And even so, I don't have a 5' accurate throwing arm, let alone a 50' accurate throwing arm!

Still in Lone Pine, if we are home before dusk I'll give y'all an update. I kinda wish he'd picked someone else's tree to get stuck in.

Well we are home and there is no sign of him, one way or another. He either flew away or was consumed without a trace. I am hoping the former. Will continue to keep an ear open, but am giving Scooter extra head rubs.... he's starting to take our comings and goings in stride, at least for these short jaunts.
