get clipped or get lost

Postby TheNzJessie » Sun Jun 13, 2010 4:11 am

ok im renting a room at my mums place while im studying and she said i have to get my birds clipped or move out.

i rent the room for $50 a week and cant afford anything more as im not working right now (studying)

I DO NOT WANT TO CLIP MY BIRDS!!!!!

she had no excuse for wanting my birds clipped but does anyone have any ideas i can convince her to let me have my birds flighted. its hard because she is not the easiest person to convince of anything.

i honestly dont see anything wrong with my birds being flighted.....

but what my mum says goes while im living under her roof....and the only way to get out of this is to find a REALLY good reason or be kicked out and have to pay close to $400 somewhere else a week....

Are they flying around the room when you are not at home? Does she need to be in your room while the birds are out?

To find an answer to this we first need to know why your mum wants the birds to be clipped.

nope my birds are only out when i am home she does not go in my room. i feed them and clean them. i vacum daily and keep them clean she has nothing to do with them.

so i dont see her reason.

Did you try actually asking her why?

She may not have a good reason, but my advice would be to keep the peace and clip the wings. When you can afford your own place, you can let the flights grow out again. At least you have a landlady that lets you have pets!

can't you just lie and say you clipped them, but dont clip them? or clip like, one feather from each wing, so technically it isnt a lie.

if she NEVER goes in the room and doesnt care about birds at all, then i dont see why you cant just do this.

but there is also that odd chance that she MIGHT go in and there not clipped and that would mean me getting the boot.

Clip the outer three of four feathers just 1/2 of 1/4 inch. That way it looks clipped and it wont fly like a rocket anymore. But still be able fly!

Just clip her feathers one by one (on each side ofcourse) like first the outer tip, then the second. And inbetween clipping you let her go and see how her flying is. Stop when she can still fly but looks clipped.

Crapy situation btw, I feel for you :?

"Because I said so" has to be one of the worst reasons on record. Oy. Maybe she's trying to kick you out without actually kicking you out! But at least clipping is a reversible procedure. If you made a list of pros and cons... what would win?
