I wanted to post this not only to illustrate the cruelty (grandmother dumps old dog in shelter after daughter abandoned it -no wonder taking into consideration who raised her!- with her AND tells grandkid to take a picture to remember it by!) THIS is how we perpetuate disregard for an animal's feelings and needs (we TEACH our children and grandchildren) and why we need annual licenses for pet ownership. Because if a person needs to explain why they no longer have the dog and the reason is something as irresponsible and as cold-hearted as what this people did, they should be banned from owning any other pet. People KNOW what they are doing is not right but they still do it because there is no punishment, no stigma, no consequences for it. And, no, education does not work. Education teaches you what is right and what is wrong but if you choose to do wrong and nothing happens, people take the easy way out - and the easy way out is always bad for the animals.
