France and Germany teamed up to ban the practice of male chick culling in the EU (here, the USDA sided with the industry and knocked down the proposal to end extreme cruelty in it).

France bans the practice of shredding male chicks alive (it's done in USA and the USDA refused to ban the practice here).

No, no, there were no gory pictures in it - just the text of the article. I would not look at a picture of a machine shredding a live baby chicken! I would not be able to sleep for three months if I did! Just the thought of it has been bothering me since I read it...

China puts temporary ban on wildlife trafficking!!! Now, I don't know if this will be properly enforced or if it will become permanent but it is a BIG step in the right direction because, as you must know by now, China is the worst when it comes to trafficking endangered and threatened species.

And look at this and tell me if it's not the sweetest thing you have seen?! Soldiers feeding fire-displaced koalas during their down time!

I read it and wish I didn't. Newly hatched chick feel pain like any other chicken. They are going to find a way to sex the egg before it can hatch.
It would be easier for the person to kill an egg instead of a chick. What they forget is that the unhatched still has feelings. The only advantage there would be is that the chick is not aware of what is going on.
