Birds lives are not improving...

Postby Pajarita » Wed Jan 08, 2020 10:07 am

Three stories about the same subject. For some reason, people don't 'feel' for birds... not that many feel for other animals either. I mean, look at all the people in the world that actually think that killing an animal is fun - and they teach their children the same lack of empathy they learned themselves from their parents, a terrible vicious cycle.

In USA (and this one, unlike the other two, is approved by the government):

Asking the public to contact officials in Virginia so an alternative is found to replace the nesting grounds of 25,000 birds that would be destroyed by the bridge project (third link on first posting of this thread).

Idiot man killed a whooping crane, one of the most endangered species in the world, and got away with a slap on the wrist because the protections for birds have been allowed to lapse.

Some stories are just too unreal... This is about captive-bred fowl used for hunting and what they are saying is that the conditions under which they are bred are so unnatural that, once the birds are released into the wild (so people can have the 'pleasure' of killing them!), they hardly ever survive because they do not know how to avoid predators or find food (a lot of them simply starve to death). The other thing -and which they do not tell you- is that they are pretty much sitting ducks for the hunters as these birds were raised by humans so they are not afraid of them - quite the contrary, they would look for them to feed them. Some sport!

So now they are thinking of ways to make their early life harder so they can survive longer in the wild until the hunters kill them.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Instead of ending the dreadful, sickening practice, they are tweaking it so the hunters can have a better 'experience'!

Over two dozen birds found dead in Pensacola. Note: I do not agree with the wildlife guy, this was not caused by them crashing against a building. Besides, these are cedar waxwings which do not really migrate, they are nomadic.
