I've had everything but snakes and cats. Literally. Two old dogs when I was little, they died, adopted another dog so we had only one dog for a while, another dog got adopted so we had two again, first dog died, we got two more so we had three, second dog died, family went their separate ways and my mom has her dog and I have mine. All dogs died from old age, not anything terrible. We also had hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, a blue tongued skink, other lizards, frogs, newts, fish, crayfish, and a little tiny crab. Not all of these were mine by any means! Not all at the same time either.

Right now I have my dog, who is now eight years old, and my birds. Not planning on adopting any more animals for a while but I am considering fostering, if I can convince my stinky boyfriend.

Not sure about doggies though. Sometimes I want to adopt another one and sometimes I don't. I know it's not happening anytime soon. My dog is very well behaved now and I am not sure whether he actually wants a companion or not. I would absolutely not get a puppy though. There is one dog I would take if his or her owners decided to admit they are not capable of caring for him or her but that's just because I've grown very fond of that dog, even though I don't care for the breed at all.

In this household right now (includes my aunt's, my daughter's and mine) are multiple pets:
Bruce- a Norfold terrior my daughter found on the street and has had for 14 years
Riddick - He looks like an overgrown shiney black Chihuahua. He was found the same way
Ramey - a Wire Haired terrior found Rachel's back door and she let him in
Chloe - a red Chihuahua we rescued from my Breeder sister after a botched C section.
Jasmine - her daughter we had been bottle feeding and would not give her back
Haley - my daughter's Boxer
Jake - Haley's son
Fancy - showed up on my porch 13 years ago. She is a calico
Princess Squeekie - (doesn't meow) I rescued from a horder when she was 14 weeks
Garfield - one of 16 ferrel cats that I fed, tamed and had fixed
ZaZa - Garfield brought home
Evalette - was a stray who found Rachel
Sylvesta - Evalette's daughter
Bubbles - Guinie pig Rachel brought home
Skittles - an Iguana given to Rachel by a friend who stole her from a home of neglect

Lucy - my 12 year old Chihuahua had a heart condition and passed 2 weeks ago
Rocky and his 3 hens had to be rehomed because a neighbor complained after 5 years

Past pets include hampsters, ferrets, turtles, rats, snakes, lizards, geccos, anoles, water monitor and two alligators

Garfield is a girl named by a kid.

Sylvesta is a girl with a play on Sylvester in the cartoons.

My daughter names her critters after people of things.

I name mine for personality. Jasmine started out being Jazz because she was everywhere before she had her legs under her.

Fancy cat is delicate and looks like she is wearing eye make up.

Chloe is a little red dog who came with the name. I nick named her Twinkie.

Rambo's name fits. He came with it. :amazon: he looks just like this walking throught the house.
Myrtle came with her name but is becoming LaLa. :blinking: She is always hanging off something and singing La La La La La
Sweetie :pied: is my Mom's baby and she is a sweetie.
Lemone' :pied: is Italian for lemone.
Shadow :greycockatiel: was my first gray
Twinkle :greycockatiel: is all gray and had to have a pretty name
Tommy and Tammy :greycockatiel: :greycockatiel: are Rachel's

besides martha and zazu the two senegals i have two female rats hermies and leelah :) my boyfriend thought herms would be a good idea because when we got the birds i was really hoping for a mammal of some type (i was thinking cat or dog but our apartments wont allow them) so when a feeder rat turned pet after the snake died and his friend didnt want the rat as a pet and gave her to us.
lucky rat! and of course when we got her the guy only had a temporary holding cage that was designed for a hamster or a gerbil so this poor adult rat had been cramped in this tiny little cage for a couple weeks before we got a hold of her. since then shes been in and out of 2 different cages and now lives in a three level cage with her friend leelah.
oddest part about this whole pointless story? leelah came from a much less traumatic place than a snake cage but hermies has a much more people-friendly attitude. strange how things work out.

In 1990 I had two cats. My son brought home a Rottie puppy. I didn't want a dog but fell in love with Dakota. He grew to 65 pounds. He was sensative and picked up on everything. My daughter brought home a rat. I really really didn't want Sonnett.

One evening when both kids were out I decided to amuse myself by picking on Dakota. He followed me as I took one piece of his dry food and gave it to Sonnett. She took it while he watched. I got another piece. When I got back to her a little hand was sticking out of the cage to get it. This went on until Sonnett decided she had stock piled enough.

The next morning I heard Dakota whimpering. He was beside her cage and her little hand was out asking him for another piece of dog food.

I've have multiple fish, a hamster, cats, and my birds. I also work with horses but I don't consider them to be fully pets.

I currently have five cats, a 100g tank (with 10x neon tetra, 10x red-bellied pristellas, 2x sae, and 3x comet goldfish), two birds (gcc and sun conure), and a horse.

My mornings are a lot of work taking care of these guys.

We only have a male tiger cat now named "Little Man" because he acts like a little grumpy old man. He's really my dad's. He's at least 13 years old, but we don't know his real age because he's a rescue. Two weeks after our tenants (in a no-pets unit) left, we went down and found him. They'd left him behind, with only a potted plant, an open bag of cat food, and the lid up on the toilet. He was abused and attacked us frequently. He's mellowed out, but still has mean moments.

In the past:
-A neighborhood cat would visit daily and we fed him. He got eaten by something.
-My grandma gave me a goldfish for my 4th birthday and it lived 4 years.
-My mom had a horse that we had to put down 3 years ago because of an intestinal blockage. She was 24.
-Mom also boarded a few other horses at our barn until about 6 years ago.
-We had Maggie, a black lab mix for 13 years. Mom got her as a puppy and had to put her down 2 years ago (she also had a blockage).
-When I was 10 we got guinea hen chicks. We let them outside to roost too soon (unknowingly) and most of them disappeared after a storm. A few stayed around for a while and one was "mine". He roosted in the gutter over the door and when he saw me he would make cute noises.

In the future I'm hoping to get a lovebird, a cockatiel, and maybe a dog. I'm also interested in peacocks. My grandpa used to have them before I was born, but my dad still talks about them. We'd gotten guineas to eat bugs in our yard, and peacocks do the same. Both birds are very noisy, but at least peacocks are nice to look at and their calls are more musical! ;)
