I wouldn't characterize peacocks as musical. They sounds like some smoker lady is calling for help.

Hahahaha that is a funny and accurate description of peacocks. Compared to guinea hens they sound like songbirds to me! The guineas used to scream like somebody was stabbing them in the heart with a fork. Last summer a lady down our road got guineas and for the first few weeks it sounded like somebody was trying to murder her daily, but it was just the birds! I guess the good thing about guineas is they're great guard dogs when they're older. They scream and chase the car when strangers come. It really freaks people out!

Rachel has a guinea pig named Bubbles. She calls us with a whistle. If we don't asnswer she will ring her bell for service.

I'm glad I found this thread! :) I was going to start a "do you own any other pets besides birds" thread but I found this one! :D

I currently own 2 dogs & 2 Chinchillas. :D With high hopes of getting a bird really soon. ;)

This is Trinity. She's a 5 year old Shar Pei/Staffordshire Terrier mix. (I'm not sure which Staffordshire Terrier she is ...American, English, or Bull)

Trinity & Anabar. Anabar is a 10 month old Siberian Husky.

Finally, my 2 Chinnies. Gus, & Jackson. (Gus is 8 months old & Jackson is 5 years old)

Sorry, I kind of went overboard on the pics! hehe

Growing up, I've had every pet you could possibly think of besides a pet scorpion. :? I've had dogs, cats, rats, mice, gerbils, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, a hedgehog, ferrets, snakes, lizards, turtles, a tortoise, tarantulas, a Madagascar hissing cochroach :?, salamanders, ducks, budgies, hermit crabs, fish, frogs & toads alike.

They are beautiful.

I never had a hissing cockroach but I did have the scorpion. Since I get very close to my pets I even learned her personality. At first when I took the lid off to care for her I would put it down the middle to back her up in the corner. After a few times when I took the lid off she just went to her corner. Never worried about her after that. She was a good scorpion. I didn't know if she was male or female until she had babies. That is what killed her and then the babies died. I was sad.

Liz, I'm sorry to hear your scorpion died. You're brave for having one! I'd be worried about getting stung, or pinched!! ;) Another freaky thing about scorpions is that they glow in the dark!

Scorpi was not a chosen pet. It came into the house by way of my son. He got it on impulse then did not have time with work to care of it so I did. I got a lot of critters that way. That was many years ago. I wasn't afraid of it just casiouse.

The only animal that I had any fear of is the abused male boxer that my daughter brought with her when she moved in. He has so many issures that he is kept in a big dog lot. He didn't like me. On days that I had to feed him was scarey. He would let me put the food down and then charge the gate aiming at my throut. What he was doing was a natural thing for an abused animal but he is bigger than me and sometimes I didn't know if I could get the gate latched.

Now when I go out the back door and call his name he barks once as a greeting. By the time I get to him he is wagging his nubby little tail. When I put his food down he lifts his head for a head rubby and I latch the gate before he starts his food.

My compasion for him won him over.

That's a great rescue story!! :D I love Boxer's nubby tails! It seems like your compassion has won all your animals over, Liz.

Rachel brought a Phsyco cat with her too. ZaZa put fear in everyone with just a look. She is now responsible for the hair in my keyboard. She now thinks I am the best friend she ever had. I can pick her up but Rachel can't.
I can pick Bubbles up but that little pig will bite Rachel everytime.
They seem to know that I am more concerned for them than for myself.
