What a sexist prick!

Jk jk.. :D

I dunno, I feel like us females do a better job with physically handling the bird and desensitizing it to touch. I believe as the gender who like cuddly pettable things, it's our second nature to fond about the bird.

No, it's actually true. For my part, all my animals listen to me better than anyone else, even my ex, but with the kids, it's totally different. As women, we usually have a lot more trouble disciplining the kids than men. You see it in school a lot too. Kids will respect the male teachers more than the female.

Females are associated with nurturing more, and it usually means more tolerant and forgiving, thus less discipline.

I hear a lot about parrots who prefer women... but they sometimes get confused with women who have short hair and don't like them 'cause they think they're men. On the other hand, I've also heard of parrots who only like men, usually because a woman mistreated them in a previous home. Mind you, preferring the women doesn't neccessarily mean listening to them too. ;)

It's funny you say that Sidech... when I went to take the budgies to the shelter and realized it was closed I had to call my parents and let them know I was bringing them... the conversation went something like this...

Dad: *picks up phone* Hello?

Me: Hi Dad. Can I talk to Mom?

Dad: *suspicious pause* I guess... *hands phone off to Mom*

And they've been living here quite happily ever since!

I voted male, but who really knows ;)

- when I used to clean houses mostly parrots was a husband's pet. Women usually would say: "He and his noisy bird" after her husband gone to work. In front of husband I never heard complains. It wasn't explanation for mess in house, you can see who really cares.
- my boyfriend loves birds too, but he'd never go online and search for a forum. Maybe we are more seen online than men.

Well, I'm a man, but a gay man, so I dunno is that sortof a gray area? jk.
I figure parrots appeal more to women because women are generally more tolerant of noise, and don't mind cleaning up messes as much as men do ;). My own interest in parrots stems from wanting an affectionate, fun pet and a lifelong desire to have a pet dinosaur...for years I had reptiles, but they don't like to cuddle, and birds are closer anyway.

I always wanted a pet Velociraptor, but I guess a cockatiel is the next best thing!

One for the guys here

As for the split I don't think it's a true representation. I know male parrot owners who will never join a forum let alone answer a question. I think women are better at seeking out likeminded people

Yea men don't even ask directions navigation systems had to be invented so they wouldn't get lost.

Funny, the members of my parakeet club are about 90% male (president is female though  ).

I think its a girls thing to go around and find as much information about something they take an interest in. But a male thing to sit around in smokey bars to talk about it
