I really don't see how the tag cannot be considered a simple extension of the toy. There are loads of little strings and beads all over the darn toys, what's the problem of just one more that happens to be a tag?

Well bird toys are made safely- I would never give a parrot with power enough to break off plastic pieces a toy with beads on it, I would think of that as more of a cockatiel toy, since they lack the beak power to break the plastic beads into shards which could hurt them. Wooden toys yes, not plastic easy-to-break ones. Little strings? I have not seen toys with little strings, except again cockatiel toys which they can't break apart... My caique definitely doesn't have toys with little beads and strings. They don't look safe to me.

But then again maybe it is the mother in me being overly paranoid? :P

Saga (Meyers) have been called a budgie, a cockatiel, a stuffed bird (why would I carry a dead, stuffed bird on my shoulder?), etc.
The last one went like this - I was at a market with Saga on my shoulder. A few meters from me, I heard two women debating (in whispers) whether or not Saga was real. Then I heard "Oh look, it's moving!" "Yes..."
;)

A common question when she was clipped was if she will fly away. One even asked me if I had stiched her feet to my shoulder or something. :?

When I took out Yondo, Eleonora Cockatoo, in his flightsuit, I also got reactions. Lots and lots of people commented on the "beautiful color on his chest", and once, before the suit, someone wondered if I had dyed him yellow under the wings.

And once when I took him to a petstore where there is a Blue-fronted Amazon, someone asked if she and Yondo were the same species. :?
The only thing they had in common might be the gray feet...

But I don't think "do you keep them together?" is necessarily stupid. Something like a Cockatiel and Amazon, yes, that's not very wise, but birds are really flock animals and are supposed to live together, not separate.

And of course, the classic that everyone asks me when they learn I have a parrot - "Does it talk?"
Proud slave of Saga and Cirino, and missing Yondo and Egon.

There's only one stupid question I'm ever asked. "How can you sleep with all those birds in your room?" Seriously? When have you ever heard a bird singing in the middle of the night?

I always respond with "they have the same sleep schedule as me. If anything, I probably am the one keeping them up"

This isn't a stupid question, more of an ignorant response. Whenever I meet someone, and we start talking about pets, I always say that I have a dog and three parrots. They get all amazed by the fact I have 3, and I bet they all assume I have a collection of grand rare birds or something.

Before, I used to always proudly say "I have two budgies and a cockatiel".

Their interest ends there. Apparently, budgies and cockatiels aren't interesting. So now, whenever someone asks me what kind of birds I have, I always respond with "a small species of cockatoo and two shell parrots".

That usually impresses them :P

I just read all 8 pages, and I have never been asked most of these questions. Maybe it is because my birds don't go out in public or because up until recently I rarely had people over ince I was living with family.

I wouldn't call it a stupid question, but I most often get asked if my birds fly. Yes, and no, thanks to some of them being clipped. I almost appreciate that question because it could be a safety issue.

The other question I get asked about is how I can have a cat and birds. Again, not necessarily a stupid question....very carefully!

I also don't generally hang out with stupid people, so that helps. :pirate:

I was talking about Akilah at work today, and one coworker asked how long it will be before my parrot becomes a macaw? Errr...
She apparantly thought all 'parrots' were baby macaws and would grow up to be "the big red and blue ones."

My cockatiel sings and chirps while sleeping.

But really, it really frustrates me when people say, "Oh, I used to have a bird with the things on his head." and I say, "You mean cockatiel parrots, I have one myself." and they respond with, "No, not a parrot, just a bird." Then we have a bit of an argument on whether cockatiels are parrots.

Not sure why, but most people don't consider budgies and cockatiels as parrots, which rather frustrates me.
