I think the feeder doesn't fit when the bottom is attached...

I bet the other birds would survive a day or two without the feeder. That is probably what I'd try.

I had a thread a while back where we were trying to entice a stray 'tiel down that was way up in a tree... there were a bunch of suggestions there that might be usefu to you also.
