Calling All Poicephalus Owners

Postby Michael » Thu Jul 15, 2010 11:20 pm

In further preparation for the Poicephalus.org website, I will be needing pictures of Poicephalus parrots. The individual parrot profiles will come later but in the meantime I would like to begin creating species profiles. If anyone would like to write a species profile, let me know. Otherwise you'll have the opportunity to contribute on top of what I end up writing.

I will be needing original photos of Poicephalus parrots. I have Senegal/Cape taken care of (but feel free to submit these too cause I might need some alternative ones). I would prefer these pictures be taken specifically for the Poicephalus.org website rather than resubmitting one that is already on the net (don't want anyone accusing the site of stealing photos if you know what I mean). I'm not asking anyone to forfeit their rights to their images but it would just make the site look better if we could get photos that won't be featured elsewhere.

Here's how we can do this. If you'd like to submit an image (and it should really be representative of the species), post it here for now. We'll try to decide which ones suit the concept best and then I'll ask any owners of images we choose to email me authorization to use their image and then their parrot will get to represent that species on the poicephalus.org website. If you'd like to profile a species let me know here as well.

Will try to take some new pictures this week-end but between going away for a large part of one of the two days (depending on weather) and having to deal with 8 birds (birdsitting my mom's two Pois), I'm not sure if I'll manage.

But I DO want to participate in this!

Ok, great. Not a terrible urgency but I do want to get this up in coming weeks. If you could have a certain set of pics that I can use exclusively for this site, it would be much appreciated. This way the site has some new content to offer to the world even though it's the same birds. In fact. Since you have some extra pois around it might be even better cause we can have a wider sample of pois to showcase

I know I have the same kind of birds as Natacha, but I'm on holidays this week and could try to get some good pictures of Lucy and Jessie. I'm also a very novice photographer, but if I get any good ones, I'll post them here.

Michael, I don't know enough to write a profile, but I can get you as many Brown Headed Parrot photos as you would like.

I posted some in the intro section yesterday. Here are some more. Let me know if you would like different ones or more. Feel free to photo edit if necessary.

Thanks. I'll be having two kinds of profiles. One will be the species profile which is meant to be professional. But then there will also be owner based profiles of their specific parrots (like size, weight, age, temperament, etc) and you are completely welcome to fill that out when it becomes available.

I got some great pictures of Jessie and Lucy this week, just haven't had time to transfer off of camera. I'll upload probably on Sunday night.

My mom's two birds just left this week so I'm hopeful I might be able to take pictures this week-end.

Will see how busy the week-end will be..

Made some pretty ones of Kika today (when we still had sunshine). Thought you might want to use one. These are made smaller to fit on the forum. But I have them in the original superhuge size.
If there are some specific things you need, like detailed eye shots or something. Feel free to ask.
