Right. That's what I supposed. But that's detecting a change in 1/120s not that the brain is "reading out" the eye at 120Hz. To me they seem like VERY different statements.

I think the true question for me is can a parrot recognize a 2D image of a 3D object? .


I'm not as sure of this, but I suspect from eye placement that only a relatively small portion of the visual field is visible with both eyes, so a lot of their visual processing would be without much depth information anyway. The do tend to use one eye at a time when looking at something new or puzzling, and that one eye is going to see a relatively flat image. So I don't think that one is a big show stopper either. I think it is more the leap of abstracting a representation of something that lacks smell, warmth, UV color, is the wrong size, etc. and associating that with the person they know.
