Does anybody know good handfed parrot breeders in NY?

Postby chiko » Fri Jul 23, 2010 3:18 pm

I'm looking forward to buying another parrot anytime around the end of this year, this time a hand fed one. I'm having trouble finding hand fed breeders here althought I have found one in Long Island called Parrots Of The World. But besides that , are there any other good hand fed breeders in NY? Thanks.

A) You never mentioned the species
B) None that I know of

I couldn't locate anyone good for poicephalus in entire tri state area so I decided to go through florida. Not only is it cheaper, but better breeders available if you source out of state. The flight is no problem. I have a blog article about that.

Sorry for answering you late.

I'm looking forward to get a Senegal/Conure. I'm doing alot of research on both. So far, Conures are loud. So I might as well get a senegal parrot. I'm aware of all its cost, and needs. I've browsed on the net for sites/places selling senegals/conures etc. in Florida. But I'm scared of actually thinking of buying one from there and getting it shipped all the way to NY. What if it gets hurt on it's way here. My neighbors who own parrots said if I were to get a parrot from Florida I might as well have someone drive me there with me and get the parrot. They said not to trust it getting shipped to me. I've seen a video of Truman get shipped and he was fine, so I'm having doubt on what they told me.

If you don't mind me asking you, where did you get Duke and Kili from? That place looks terrific... was it in NY or NJ or somewhere else?

Thanks

I got Kili and Truman at "For Birds Only" in Mineola. While I still buy supplies there, I'd never buy a parrot from them again because they clip all of them. I suggest getting your bird shipped from a breeder. I did it, Mandy did that, so did Taco Kim. The breeder birds really are better (assuming good breeder) and that way it isn't clipped. The shipping really isn't a problem. Here's an article I wrote about the air shipping process:

I explain how getting it flown in from florida is probably better than a very long drive for the bird.
