I've set a hypothetical limit of two birds, one for me and one for my husband. With three cats and a horse, I think that's more than plenty! The horse is already getting the short end of the stick. But he's semi-retired and has a full time trainer, so it could be worse.

lol, my parents limit me to one bird =) in the future I plan on getting more birds and most likely fostering some, but thats a long ways away when I'm absolutely sure that I could handle more and would have the time to do so... In my mind I fantasize on the max of 5 birds. 2-3 medium to large ones and finches/canaries or even budgies for a couple small birds. I know I couldn't handle anymore than that! =) but its funny, I actually enjoy cleaning my parrots cage (I find it strangely soothing!) so there isn't really anything I dislike about parrot ownership  but I really hope that "just one more" urge does fade away one of these days ;)

I would say four now, meaning two pairs of two species. This from the experience of keeping one Meyers and two Sulphur-cresteds at the same time; I definitely could have had another Meyers too there.

But then we're talking my current "normal" living conditions. If I one day get to live far from people and can have huge year-round aviaries where the birds live more naturally, then I can have far more of them.

I don't know my limit yet. I'm still really young, and I don't know how busy I will be in the future.

There should be an option for unknown :P

I selected unlimited because I will be a foster home. By myself, I don't think I could care for more tame birds that need socializing over about 10, depending on the size. I have five right that are permanent residents. Realistically, with a job (don't have one now) and kids (not yet) I think I should keep less than 8 of any of the species I currently have-lovies, cockatiels, green cheeks. At this point I am not willing to adopt any birds larger than those. My g2 is enough.

My husband is also in the military, so I think moving more than a flock of 5-10 would be a disaster. I am already worried about traveling with the g2!

Then again, you never know what will happen...
