Introducing as yet to be named Jardine's Parrot!

The pictures are not great as I took them with my iphone. My daughter has the good camera.

The last photo is an attempt to show the beautiful scalloping of his feathers but I'm afraid the photo doesn't do him justice.

Love those guys! I almost made my husband get me one before we were really ready for a bird... I met him in the local bird shop, was calling him "Buckbeak". But I thought you were at quota?

She's beautiful pchela! That is one type of bird I haven't seen in person before. I'm certain the pictures don't do her justice.

Congrats again!

It's all explained here. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2238&p=14119&hilit=i+got+my+red+belly#p14119 It's a weird situation.

He is cute as can be now and in a year or so he'll have bright orange on his crown, ankles and shoulders. They are really gorgeous birds.

Ok, I don't mean to sound like a retard but why doesn't he have an orange patch on his head? I thought Capes and Jardines babies all have the orange patch? The baby Jardines I've seen at the store definitely had that. Is this a sexing characteristic?

Just a guess, but it could be that the bird is a lesser jardines.

Michael - He apparently won't get his orange on his crown, ankles and shoulders until he's a year old or older. I guess it varies. I saw his parents and they both had the orange.

A.Susz - Here you go!

Also, I like Murphy but I've got criteria for the names of my pets that it doesn't fit. They all are named after favorite characters from t.v., film, literature or songs. Except Nicholas of course but I didn't name him and I'm going to try to convince him that his name is actually Nicodemus!
