I would think the females would be bigger chewers, with nesting instinct and all that? when my tiel got hormonal she would chew and shred waay more than usual. she was even more of a chewer than my gcc is now. I'm not sure whether my gcc is a male or female though...
what makes you think that males might generally be bigger chewers?
i cant comment on this because both my lorikeets i have/had were not dna sexed so i dont know for sure, luka was a big chewer of his perches and not on his toys. jango loves to chew his toys but doesn't even touch his perches. i think it comes down to the species and the individual bird.
I can only speak intelligently about Amazons but males tend to be more into chewwing wood , this behavior comes from breeding in the wild , the female is simulated by the sight of the hole (black hole)in the tree and the male is stimulated my enlarging it, ie chewing. of course there're many other factors but i think males are more into chewing/shredding wood.
I'd say it depends on the species and on the individual bird.
I only have one DNA sexed bird (Male Amazon) and he's a big chewer! His main goal in life is to thoroughly destroy every toy that he comes in contact with.
