a venture away from parrots

Postby Giantmoa » Tue Aug 17, 2010 6:56 pm

I finally got to handle the barn owl where I volunteer! Surprisingly I was more comfortable feeding him rat meat by hand then I am giving the amazon, who hates my guts at the moment, a treat(she likes acting like a big scary bird  ). Maybe its because owls aren't as smart as parrots (due partly to the fact that their huge eyeballs take up a good deal of their skull space) and I don't have to worry about him thinking it would be more fun to bite my finger instead of take the food like the amazon seems inclined to *try* to do if the treat isn't up to her standards. I still adore her and all her amazon attitude despite her grudge against me  I can't deny holding an owl was friggin cool though, I shall not complain about all the rats and bunnies I have to gut or all the raptor and owl poop I have to scrub among other things...
