Another small town Manitoban! The only place I can think of near Carman is Morden, I'm not very famiar with south or east of Winterpeg . I'm from a small town west of Brandon, but you may as well consider me a Brandonite .

"Gapper"? I grew up in Winnipeg and now live in Saskatchewan...I have never heard that term before...

...and "Cannie" is new too ...Canuck...yup...fine with that one...

Canada is a funny place...I think we're just not populated enough to have our 'own' thing going...

Maybe it's a small town Manitoban (and Albertan) thing. You city folk do things differently than the rest of the province . Saskatchewan is the gap between Manitoba and Alberta. When you're driving across country on the #1 it seems like there's nothing in SK, hence it's simply the gap you have to cross to get to the next province.

Ha! I wonder how many people, from outside of Canada obviously, get the "Winterpeg" reference...

Ok and how many other Canadians know of "Poutine"? I wonder how many people on the West side of the country have ever heard of it...I'm personally not a fan (which apparently is quite surprising since I'm from Quebec)

Ok, so forgive me if this is inappropriate - I figured in light of this conversation... you're from Ontario so you may get this but how many other Canadians, let alone Americans, know what beavertail is? I lived in Ottawa for a few years and was introduced to it. Unfortunately for me, when I was 13 my family decided to move to small-town Manitoba so I bought a beavertail t-shirt to remember good times skating on the Rideau. Well, I quickly learned that beavertail in Manitoba is NOT the same as it is in Ottawa! And for those of you who don't get this, I am not going to explain it!
