parrot art

Postby Giantmoa » Fri Aug 20, 2010 4:21 pm

how many of you guys are into art? I'd love to see some drawings/paintings/whatever of birds that you guys have done :D

I'm currently working on drawing the different bird species out there, and since I haven't drawn any poicephalus (and soo many people have a poi on here!) I decided to draw a couple using pics from the forum as reference since I have no live models :senegal: and I drew an african grey parrot for the heck of it, they are one of my favorite birds to draw
sorry the image quality ain't the best, my scanner is unworkable and I took pics of them instead

Thats cool...

Are you planning to add colour or leave them as sketches?

I'll probably leave these as sketches since I mostly shaded them. I might draw another with color but I can never seem to get the colors I want and its never vibrant enough for me so I usually stop at a quick sketch

If you go beyond the quick sketch more often you will get better and better.
You sure are talented! ;)

That's pretty awesome! I haven't drawn in ages, but seeing your sketches of birds does make me want to pick up my sketchbook again~ Actually... When I find some time I wouldn't mind picking up painting again!

These are really nicely done! :) I wish more of my art students would want to spend time LOOKING at things and practicing. I bet you could do some beautiful drawings of birds with pencil crayons (lots of layering!). I would love to see more of your artwork.

rainbow thought she'd help me color and "trim the paper to size" it was fun to try to manuveur the colored pencil with her hanging onto it and whittling away the top... I'll try again later, though I must say I'm liking the results of adding color
