Very good work! You can definitely tell what type of bird each is.

I really love working with bright colours, so it's really no surprise that I like painting parrots! Here's a couple paintings of my own...

The first is a sun conure. Acrylics on canvas. This is a couple years old now and hanging in my grandparents' living room. It's far more colourful in person, as I can never get my camera on quite the right setting; the flash is either reflected in the paint or I can't get good enough lighting without the flash. It was done more for fun than anything.

This one was a school project and is getting put on display for the arts at my school's fashion show. A group of parrots; a Scarlet macaw, male and female Eclectus and a sun conure again. This one was a lot more extensive: the parrots are acrylics on matboard that I cut out to get the shapes of the birds. The jungle backdrop is acrylics on canvas and the parrots are mounted on real branches decorated with fake flowers and leaves. I tried to get the parrots close to life size, but even if I did a life-size macaw, there would be no mounting on the canvas, that's for sure!

Again, much more colourful and striking in person, especially the 3Dness of it. It's probably one of my best works to date.

I really want to learn how to do this. Like, so much.

I wonder if the pet store manager would save some of the Amazon's moulted feathers for me if I asked? She's clipped, but it might work on moulted tail feathers as well as flights... :\

Very nice. I love drawing birds myself, so much texture and color
here's a couple of mine I've done. I'm sure I could find more if I decided to dig through storage.

I finally managed to get one of Charlie the DYH Amazon's moulted feathers. It looks like she played with it a bit before I managed to get to it, but it was still good for painting on. So here's a portrait of Charlie on one of her own moulted feathers. :D

Here's another photo that gives you an idea of the actual size of the feather.
