LOL- If I named him Uther I'd have to say it in a deep, serious voice every time I said it! How about Pendragon? Then he'd be the coolest, bad ass bird on the block!

I'm rereading Hitchhiker's Guide right now to see if I really, really like Arthur. I just feel like the perfect name is eluding me. Ideally, I'd like to name him after a Joss Whedon character but there aren't that many great names from him.

Harry Potter has lots of good names and I like the series but I don't LOVE the series.

I'm not a Trekkie. I love Star Wars (the originals) but no good names there. Indiana was deemed too obvious by my husband.

My husband thinks I'm too picky but I say, this bird is going to have the name for the next 35 to 50 years so I'd better really like it.

I agree with you. You'll be using the name for a long time!

Make sure the inevitable nick-names are enjoyable too.

My SIL's younger son is called Oliver...but she does call him Ollie. I don't know if I could be married to a man called Ollie..., although you do stop 'hearing' the names after a while.

I like uncommon names too. I picked uncommon names for both my sons (listed around the 100s at the time) - in fact, I even got heck from family for the unusual names. Fast forward 20 years...both names I picked are now in the Top 5 boys names...*argh* :?

Haha! I went with an unusual name as well for my daughter and fortunately I have yet to meet another person with that name. She also always gets compliments which is nice... I don't feel like I gave her a weird name, only a unique name.

 I don't think we can be friends anymore...

I guess my name suggestions are out then, I liked McCoy like Entranced mentioned, and Scotty off of classic Trek too... :?

Well I liked the recent movie version... can we be friends again?

My husband wanted to name him umm... what's the Captains middle name? Tiberius? Something like that.

Yes, Tiberius was Captain Kirk's middle name. That would make an awesome name!

Since I have no idea where you got that name from, I have no idea how to pronounce it.
But it looks cool in writing!
Kika: Senegal Parrot.
Guus: Cockatiel, Yellowcheek, cinnamon, pearl, pied.

It is pronounced like aim as in to aim a gun... only with an s!

But, I think we have decided to call him Heywood. 2001 is my husbands favorite movie and he hasn't gotten to name any of the birds so I let him have this one.

I'm hoping it sticks.
