Bird Nicknames

Postby Michael » Tue Aug 24, 2010 10:54 pm

Does your parrot have a full name or nickname you call it by?

I joke around that Kili's full name is Killard (like Bernie is to Bernard). Truman sometimes goes by Trum for short or True-Man for long. Obviously Kili and Truman are the originating names and what I mostly call them but on occasion that's what they get called.

My 3 came already named, but I totally added onto it to create a "full name" for when they are being naughty or silly or I want to be silly :p

Rosie gets called Rosewood or Rosalee, Norma gets called Norma Jean and Norman(she even calls herself Norman and I think it might have been her name until she was DNAd at about 2), and Hardy gets called Hardigree or Hardington.

I love playing with names, so I'm sure I'll come up with more. I give cutesy pet names to everyone I love, hehe!

I call Galileo by name most of the time, but sometimes call her Gal, Gallie, or Lea. Archimedes is just Archimedes. XD

I shorten Jessie to Jess and Lucy to Luc (you say it like Lucy, but without the y).

Jessie also knows I'm referring to him when I call him Buddy or Monkey. Lucy knows I'm referring to her when I call her my baby or baby girl.

Definitely:

:cockatiel: Ben's full name is Benjamin Franklin, Max's is Mad Max.

:budgie: BooBoo's real name is Greenball, JooJoo's is Junior, and ZooZoo's is Zucko.

We only call them by the shortened version/nicknames, though. Ben gets called Crankypants a lot, and Max Sleepyhead 'cause he falls asleep in the middle of cuddles.

Nicholas who I am trying to rename Nicodemus calls himself Nicky or Nicholas.

Pippin is Pippin and my husband sometimes calls him Pip. If he's in trouble he might get called Peregrin Took!

I wanted to name my parrot Jazz so I thought it would be Jasmine for a girl or Jasper for a boy... It turned out to be a girl but I pretty much always call her Jazz.

my Joey is officially Joseph or if we ever find out he is a girl Jolene. But he ofcourse has nicknames

-joey
-joe-joe
-joey-joe-joe-joe (wich is more of a song)

he also has a special song for when he is on his favourite perch outside of the cage.... then we sing the "joey on a pinne (<- danish for perch)" song and do a little dance with the perch.... he looks at us funny when we do that
