He had a name for about 5 minutes but somebody made fun of it! :P

This is great to see!

Natacha, Piper is so cute as a baby - he looks like he got into something messy! :D But I love his colours as an adult.

Rebecca, thanks for the pictures of the Rosellas. What stunning plumage!

And Kim, those budgies have gorgeous colours! I've never seen any like that with that many colours and those particular colours - they are like little pastel candies.

I think it's so cool to see how birds change as they mature. I know I'll miss Sputnik's button black eyes and his bars, but at least I have lots of pictures and videos to remind me what he was like as a baby. They grow up so fast!!!

Sputnik's feathers seem to grow in at an exponential rate - his clipped wing feathers are coming in fast (and no, I have no plans to clip him again). And just this afternoon I came home to find enough feathers around the living room to make me think the poor bird exploded. I do wish he'd let me scritch his head to help him out. He only lets me rub my nose up against his head. Good thing I don't have a cold... ;)

I used to call him dirty all the time as a baby

Crimson Bellied Conures have green bellies when they first fledge, and the red feathers gradually replace them in the first moult. I have photos, but dunno how to post 'em here yet.

Blue Crowned Conures have beige upper and lower mandibles, but the lower one turns black around two years of age.

bronze wings are forest green as babies and have a slight bit of black to their beaks, also a nice assortment of colors on their chest, and each baby looks different! they get their bronze wings at about 8 months and a dark blue color all over after a few moults.

Baby male King Parrots have a lot of green on them, and then it changes to red.

Female and female pearl mutation cockatiels are born with a beautiful flecking. But males lose it as they mature. Females don't. They keep it.So I'm lucky. Didn't even know tiels stayed this way till I got Diamond and learned more about her mutation.

Here's a shot of Dee's feathers uplose.
(an early shot of her)

And a comparison of what Jasper and Dee look like side by side. This was on a day when I was working at the desk and had them on the work lamp. They were preening peacefully.

I've always thought cockatiels were so cute with their little rosy cheeks but your Dee is stunning with those flecks! (And don't you love it when your birds can sit by you when you work and preen peacefully! My bird usually comes and poops on my work and chews it all up. I often go to school with notes that have been carefully decorated by Sputnik!)

All of your posts make me want to go out and get one of each parrot! :D
And Natacha, I saw an ad on kijiji yesterday - someone is selling a lovebird that looks exactly like your grown-up Piper! I was sooo tempted...

Thank you ! I think I caught them in the right moment. Any other time they'd be all over my desk attacking my keyboard. They have amazing skill when it comes to dismantling things. Like my poor keyboard and attacking anything remotely interesting. Dee is a serial shredder. You shoo them away and they come back 2 seconds later.
