Grumpy Little Bird

Postby MissLady9902 » Mon Nov 09, 2009 7:03 pm

Okay, I would like Marvin and Noodle to get along. Marvin is very curious about Noodle. Marvin is sweet with other birds. He met my friends Amazon and was great! They both got along well. Noodle however wants nothing to do with other birds. She tries to eat my budgies, my friends amazon and Marvin.
How do I socialize Noodle to other birds without losing bird appendages?
She and Marvin live in the living room together but not in the same cages.

Yes. Noodle attacked an amazon for crying out loud! Don't ask me why all these big birds let Noodle beat them up...
What's a good way to get Noodle less violent towards other birds?

I have noticed that smaller birds seem to be more fearless and generally more intrepid than larger birds. (Sweeping generalization). Mr friend Rachel has a squad (herd? shoal? team?) of sun conures all of whom are ordered around by her budgie. It struts around with it's chest puffed out like a miniature drill sergeant. I have to say I haven't seen any violence, only low-level teasing.

Ever seen the video of a Senegal Parrot trying to bully a macaw?

They really don't think they are one bit smaller!

I have heard before that budgies can be bossy/aggressive to other birds. Some people who have budgies and cockatiels have said that the budgie becomes the dominant because cockatiels are apparently much more laid back.

I've seen videos of budgies and lovebirds that seem to get along or just don't really go near eachother, but I've also heard that sometimes they don't get along.

Some of my mom's cockatoos are afraid of her Senegal..just saying. These little guys are fearless (much like Lovebirds).

I wouldn't risk having them together on a same perch if there is any doubt that one will attack the other..
