Guess where I'll be this week-end...

Postby Natacha » Wed Nov 11, 2009 4:51 pm

I'll be attending the Canadian Parrot Conference (CPC) in Guelph this Saturday and Sunday. I went last year as well.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Barbara Heidenreich.

I'm also hoping that the vendors will have decent deals on stuff..I could always go for another Java tree if the price is reasonable...

Oh... that sounds fun! Barbara Heidenreich actually lives here in Austin and I know two girls who are apprenticing with her right now. I've toyed with the idea of trying to apprentice with her as well. She's really amazing!

Hey everyone!

So the conference was awesome, although cut a bit short (car accident on Saturday evening (I was a passenger)).
I'm generally ok, but this is why I haven't been around this week. Other things to take care of.

I'll have to take pictures of the stuff I got at the conference. Not sure when I'll get around to that though.

Oh my gosh! Hope you are okay! We're you birds in the car with you? They're okay right?

My parents were birdsitting. Didn't feel like having the birds with me on the 6 hour drive to Guelph ;)

Mind you, I am sooooooo happy I did not have them with me. Sooo happy. The accident was unexpected (as our all accidents I guess) and having them in their carriers on impact would have freaked them out, I can't imagine what would have happened if they would have been free in the car...
The seat belt did it's job with me, although it's the reason I'm sporting nice bruises ;)

I'd imagine it would be more or less the same as when they fly into walls in our own homes? They kind of just bounce off.... :/

yeah but her birds are flighted so if a window broke out or a door was opened they would be loose in a heartbeat and hard to get back since they're frightened.

I'd think it would be much worst. The force of impact was pretty terrible and had I not been restrained by the seat belt, I'm fairly sure I'd have hit the door or dashboard pretty hard.

The speed of impact versus the speed of a bird flying in your home probably doesn't compare either (we weren't going fast, someone drove into the side of our car pretty fast and we got spun around instead of just push forward).

(The car is a write off by the way, just to prove how bad the impact was..)
