Pets 101: Parrots

This was featured on Animal Planet and I found it on youtube. I disagree with the "general rule of thumb that the cage should be twice as large as the wing span". They need room to climb and flap and play!! Just because a bird may be small doesn't mean it can live in a tiny space.

The cage size and that they said as a fact that the smaller parrots don't need as much attention is wrong.

My tiels don't get as much attention as my amazons. I justify this because they are in a flock and have each other as well as me.

Other than that they did bring up some points to those who don't know parrots.

There's a scene in Gone with the Wind (its right before Scarlett's daughter jumps her pony and dies) where you can see what look like two macaws sitting on a perch in the background. They probably aren't real but it was still cool to see.

I just saw an episode of Restaurant Impossible and a lady had an unharnessed U2 on her shoulder at an outdoor fair. She was letting it taste broth from a crawfish boil. I would think that's too salty, but I suppose a tasting isn't dangerous.
