Happy New Year

Postby idlepirate » Fri Dec 31, 2010 8:39 am

Just wanted to wish all of you and your parrots a happy new year and a great start to 2011. If you're on the cold side of the world I hope you can keep yourselves warm and if your lucky enough to be on the summer side of the world, I'm jealous but hope you enjoy it :dancing2:

Does anyone have any parroty new years resolutions?

Mine is to to finally get this aviator on Lorenzo and take him out to the park in Summertime.
Also to teach as many tricks as possible. Plus want to buy Loro a new larger cage at some point and just keep spoiling him rotten

HAPPY NEW YEARS!

Buy the aviator harness, and learn to get him into it by summer.

Non-parrotly goals though, I'm going to Cancun in two weeks, so I've got to stop eating those Christmas goodies!

Happy New Year everyone!

Captwest - We're only there for 10 days I think. Big family vacation with the cousins and and aunts and uncles. Typically, resorts aren't my thing, but I'm a history junkie, so I can't give up a chance to see the Pyramids!

How did everyone celebrate the new year? I stayed home with my parents and my little brother. The night before I went over to my friends house and played Dictionary all night. When I got home the next morning, I realized that my little brother had gone in my room and turned on my light and forgot to turn it off. So, I think the birds had a rotten sleep with the lights on. When I got home, I turned off the light, got into bed, and the birds went quiet, and we all had a little nap.

My little sister was off at a party, but my parents made an awesome supper. We had a 70$ prime rib, with golden brown potatos and baked carrots with brown sugar. Then my parents cracked open a 100$ bottle of champagne.

After supper I made my little brother watch Paulie. He thought it was hilarious that the bird could talk. Of course the ending made me cry (along with the part where the old lady loses her eye sight).

Right before midnight, I was in bed reading J.D. Salinger's Franny and Zooey (my friends mom had gifted me with about 10 new books). Around 11, Einstein started chirping, so I let him out. He began preening my hair, but not soon after he drifted off. I put him back in his cage.

All in all, I really enjoyed my New Year Eve. There was no special party, no dressing up. But I got to watch a movie with my favorite buddy, read a book by one of my favorite authors, ate a delicious meal with my family, and in the end, cuddled with my baby cockatiel.

For some reason people are staying home more and more often on new years. For me I spent most of the evening with Lorenzo listening to music and watched a movie with him sitting on my laptop. :)
Gave him a celebratory peanut and let him stay past his bedtime just a bit before putting him to bed.
Then went out with my boyfriend around 10 to the city to see if anything was going on but the city was the same as any Saturday night and we just weren't interested lol. We went out for new years dinner the night before incase its crazy so we ended up back at a local bar by the apartment (made it easier to drive home after then going to the city). there was about 10 people in there and an empty dance floor- quite pathetic, just didnt feel like new years. but it was ok coz it was the first new years i got to spend with my boyfriend after 5 years. Really only stayed till 12 for the hell of it and then went back home.
Brought Lorenzo all the stringpaper stuff that came out of the little party poppers and the next day got to play with it with him which he loved:)
New years is always a let down when you plan something, best to just go with the flow. If I was back home Id have spent it on a beach watching the sun rise

We stayed in on New Year's eve by choice. We murdered a couple of lobsters and drank wine, watched the ball drop on TV. We let the birdies sleep through it. I spent New Year's Day steam-cleaning bird cages!
