My you had an exciting vacation! Sorry about the burglary, that must have been pretty scary! Next time, call the front desk, don't push him out yourself! (I might well have reacted the same way, but it could have been really bad!) (Sorry, I couldn't stop myself,) (But I'm glad you are OK).

Idle, can't wait to hear how the balloon experiment works out!

UPDATE:
So far I have taped a big yellow ballon to the tv screen and though Lorenzo hasnt popped it yet hes been flying onto the screen about 80% less! This mostly because its in the way and takes up most of the surface leaving only one of the corners free and hes only been flying to that corner randomly but wont sit comfortable or for long, more like hes just hanging on to the edge and wondering why the balloon is there. hes being cautious which is what I wanted :D
so excellent results so far. *knock on wood* I guess from now on my room will look like theres a kids party going on in it daily lol.

I have a similar issue, and the ballon idea sounds great. My gcc loves to land on my head, and I will dunk my head instead of allowing her to step up on my hand. If she flies to my shoulder I make a big deal and tell her "good bird" and she seems to get it. She also likes to sit on a laptop screen when we had one, and she would poop all over it, until we taught her that pooping was only okay on the cage or playstand, so now she flies over there to poop. How about potty training your bird?

Side note for entranced:

Scooter, my gcc had her wings grown out (went too long between clippings) and now it doesn't matter if she's clipped or not, she is still the devil of a flyer. I keep her clipped on the off chance that it will prevent her from going too far if she ever escapes, but if I could go back in time I would never have let her wings grow out. My suggestion is if your bird is doing okay with his wings clipped, keep them that way--if he's not flying into walls or windows or hurting himself there is no reason (I feel) that he should be flighted. JMO if he were my bird. My cockatiel loves to fly into things and when she's flighted she doesn't, which is the only reason she has wings.

Sorry to go on a tangent. Just my 2 cents.

We had a similar problem with Isis sitting on the top of our TV - and shredding the sensor for our Wii. We solved it by slicing down one side of a long carboard tube (one of the ones from inside a roll of wrapping paper) and sliding that over the top of the TV - the tube is too wide and too slipy for Isis to grip comfortably, so she doesn't land there much anymore.

We also put some window perches where she can see the garden, and one on the side of our (covered!) aquarium where she can watch 'her' fish - both of which gave her other much more interesting places to be than on the boring old TV ;)
