I visited "Bird Kingdom" in Niagara Falls, it's a large indoor aviary. I didn't have a lot of time there, and woud like to go back. It was pretty cool. Unfortunately, my damn memory card messed up just after I entered the big aviary. All the previous pics were lost, including the smaller aviary where there was one beautiful small parrakeet, I think a conure, in the small aviary that I can't identify. I found a pic of it on the web but no i.d, I'm just curious as to what they are. Any ideas?? They were not on the sign in the aviary, nor are they in the online "field guide".

it looks like they could be a colour mutation of the kakariki in New Zealand i have done a little bit of search and this is the closest look alike i can find

I actually was doing some research on the Goldie's lorikeet. Apparently, they are the best companions of the lories.

I was talking to a woman from Toronto, and she happened to find one in a pet store for about 900$. I've looked to see if there are any breeders in Canada, but I couldn't find very many.





Does anyone else think they look exactly like a little water melon? With those dark and light green stripes and the bright pink head. I love them! But then again, I love just about all animals

We used to go to Niagara Falls EVERY March break. My favorite thing we did there was going to the aviary. My favorite bird there is the huge gray hornbill. I don't know what species it is, but it is so cool looking, almost like a dinosaur.

Thank you! That's them alright. Here I thought they were conures...that explains why they were drinking from the nectar feeders too I suppose ...don't stand right next to those, you get wet

I didn't do the rainbow lorikeet feeding, even though I was in time for it I was foolish enough not to bring any cash or change into the place...and I didn't like the "no photography of your own" thing. There was also a room with free-roaming reptiles, an African Gray on a stand and some macaws, but the surly looking guy who apparantly worked there just stared at me when I said hello and never smiled once, I think he was worried I'd stuff the parrot into my sweater and make a run for it. But other than that it was fun, I'd go back.
It amazes me how the parrots just stay put in their assigned places, even though don't seem to be clipped, like the macaws in the main aviary.

I actually met one at a local rescue a few times.
It was adorable but man was the projectile poop off-putting.

i can second that =p i take many MANY precautions for it..
