Notice I indicated "had" - past tense. I had a pair outside. I figured I could handle the poops outside. No one told me about the ANTS that LOVE sugary poops. Poops that don't dry but turn into fig newton filling. Cleaning sticky fig newton filling off everything. Perches that . . . MOLDED? I was hosing everything off every day. I figured the daily hosing couldn't be healthy for them. I just couldn't do it.
Yes! They look like little watermelons! They are sooooo cute!!!! I'm "almost" tempted to try again.

They are nectar-eaters so they are inherently messy. They do make some dry foods for lories, but I'm not sure if they are as good for them, and I expect they need to drink commensurately more water, so the poop is still going to be very much sugar and water generated.
We do have a couple of lorikeet owners around! They can chime in.
