I have a GCC thats been a plucker for years, I've tried everything to get him to stop, except this. Do you think it would work for him? He plucks everywhere, body, wings, tail. Also, he's started plucking his cage mates heads as well. I can't isolate him, he's bonded to my SC and freaks out if he isn't near her. Any ideas?

Mrstweet's G2 chewed the sock sweater off in 5 minutes. I told her this was normal until the bird gets used to wearing the sweater. There are concerns the bird may hang itself during the time it takes to get used to the sweater. I always only put it on when I can watch the bird for the entire day to make sure the bird stops struggling. My old G2 Sally is so used to the sweater that it's no big deal to her and we really have no concern she's going to strangle herself.

You can also go get an elizabethan collar. I also heard there are now "bubble" collars for feather pluckers, but I've never used one or seen one in real life. You can make a elizabethan collar out of cardboard. You can also make a bubble collar out of cardboard and toilet paper for padding.

If you want to try the sock sweater for your GCC you can go get children's tube socks. The sock I cut up for the jenday in my picture is a sock my daughter outgrew a few years ago.

Not only did she chew the sock sweater off, the second time I tried she plucked four feathers in 3 minutes. She only plucks about a feather or two a week so that was not worth it to me.
