New Baby Grey

Postby APMickie » Sun Mar 13, 2011 3:17 pm

This is the new baby Grey that I think is going to be coming home with me in a few weeks. It's gonna be dna'd, but for now I'll say she - this pic was taken at about 7-8 weeks of age, very sweet baby with VERY sharp claws. They hadn't gotten around to trimming the babies yet and she started foraging on my arm, I didn't even notice till later that I was scratched up pretty badly lol. Out of 3 clutch mates, one was a very light grey and she was already posturing at me when I put my hand close to her, though she was very calm. The other 2 were this shade of Grey but the second was too busy getting into stuff to care if I was trying to play with him lol but this baby let me pick her up, was cuddling up under my neck and looking for food. And of course foraging, so I think this is the one for me :). I'm going up tomorrow to see her again, I'll let you know what happens. Thanks everyone for the advice on the other bird earlier!!

I've never seen a baby Grey before, and that has to be one of the cutest baby bird pictures that I've ever seen. Congratulations!

Thanks everyone, they really are irresistible and this baby also, just touched my heart from first sight. I am so excited to go see him/her tomorrow and even more excited to bring the baby home!! WOOT!!!! I have bought TONS of toys already, even some foot toys, any suggestions about what else I should get for the baby? This is my first big bird, my first Grey so I'm a little clueless right now, even though I've been reading up on these parrots for years lol, a very nervous mama.

What a sweet little face! Congrats! Don't sweat it about the nails for now. I don't clip my babies' nails until the day they go to their new homes as babies aren't very coordinated and I like them to have their sharp little claws for as long as possible.

Well, went and spent some time with her/him yesterday afternoon and it went FANTASTIC!!!!! Absolutely no aggressive behavior from this baby :gray: We spent a couple of hours chirping and playing with some foot toys and eating and cuddling :D I cannot begin to express my happiness right now. I know she'll get older and be more independent but this for now is amazing. The first bird never did any of this stuff. Also, no shyness or skittishness from this baby. I am very excited to see how things progress over the coming weeks before she comes home. Next on the list besides spending as much time as I can up at the store, A NAME!!! Yikes! Gonna wait till the DNA comes in but for now does anybody have any suggestions?

We kinda like Bella for a girl (no connection to Twilight), still open on that lol and I'm Irish so I'd like to have an Irish name for this baby. TIA!!!
