Im back home:)

Postby idlepirate » Tue Mar 22, 2011 3:50 pm

Hi everyone:)

Just wanted to say that im finally back home from my holiday and lorenzo is more then happy to see me. I was having nightmares about the state hed be in after leaving him for so long but the moment i walked through the door he had a little moment where he froze like "is it really her!"
and stepped right up and wouldnt leave me alone for a second since.
I was disapointed however in my friend who was supposed to look after him in between, the cage was absolutely filthy, even though she said she washed it every week it look like nothings been done since I left. his bowl was overflowing in food (they were worried he wouldnt eat so they just poured everything in), but nobody figured he only picks out the seeds he wants and will leave the rest. his water was dirty too and there was just random stuff going on in that cage which i wont even go into.
of course i had a flip out and first thing had to clean everything and give poor lorenzo a good shower and sort him out. since Ive been back lorenzo is about 10x more naughty and super super super clingy unlike never before. he has all these new habits, like flying onto the top of the door while you're going out which is so dangerous as now i have to always make sure he isnt ontop before i close it. usually i close it in a hurry so that he doesnt fly on to me to follow me. its like hes so bored of all his toys and perches, he'll go everywhere but where hes supposed to. i can send him back 100times and he just comes back and starts nipping me big time if i dont give him full attention. hes taken over the flat or something, if u dont give him what he wants when he wants he almost starts attacking me which hes never done before. even when i wanted to take a perch down to clean it he went nuts and started attacking my hand.
his flying skills are insane, i guess hes had 5 weeks to just own the room and practice flying. hes flying in circles round the room so fast, hovering in the air, doing 180s and all sorts. im so scared hell just crash into a wall or door but he has really good control over his flying.never knew they could fly so fast in such a small space.
hes just very very naughty and i need to put some routine and dicipline back into him. lock him up again when hes like this. hes just so madly in love with me or something, obsessed with the fact that im back and just cant get enough but its getting a little bit much... if i look away for a second (at a computer screen for instance) or talk to someone else he starts pinching my face and pulling me, he never used to be like this. haha

anyway hes keeping my hands full at the moment and while being mad at my friend and trying to get him back to the way he was i can at least join in the site conversations here again :)

missed everyone and africa sends its regards:)

I bet he settles back in soon enough! I'm glad you are back and he's safe and sound (or at least safe!).

Welcome home!

And OMG that is the cutest little conure! I'm going to have to see if blue throats are available in the U.S.

I'm so sad. They're rare in the united states: http://www.pyrrhurabreedersassociation. ... ecies.html

Too beautiful! I'm a conure fan. You are so lucky to have him.

Wild Bird Conservation Act, yadda, yadda, yadda. . . Domestically bred birds can be imported into the US, but I'm not clear on all the details and it's a bill I'm sure I'm not going to be able to foot any time soon. Envy you.

TacoTaco - glad to see a fellow conure affectionado.
